How To Stop Your Scalp From Shining After Scalp Micropigmentation

It is essential to care for your scalp after getting done with your SMP treatment. The main concern for a lot of balding men is the oily shine that accumulates on their scalp, while for some people it may not even be a concern. It should be made clear that the shine is not a bad thing, but if you still want to remove it, we can gladly say that it is possible.

DAILY CLEANSING

Excessive oil can accumulate on your scalp over the day. At the end of the day, your scalp might look like an oily mess. So, to avoid it, we recommend washing your head with mild soap at least two times a day. You can also use a facial scrub you wash your face with. However, avoid using any strong product that may harm your skin. You can just wash your head whenever you wash your face and then pat it dry with a towel. If you have naturally dry skin and washing makes it even drier, apply an oil-free moisturizer to your scalp.

OIL-FREE MOISTURIZER

After washing your scalp, apply a moisturizer. (don’t use any oily moisturizer) You can use an oil-free mattifying moisturizer. It will keep your scalp moisturized all day while also prevent it from getting oily. Moisturizing your scalp is very important in order to avoid a rough or flaky scalp.

SUNBLOCK

When going out, wear sunblock of at least an SPF 30. Make sure that it is oil-free. Sunblock is very important to keep your scalp protected after an SMP session.

SHAVING PATTERN

Regular shaving of your head is also required after Scalp Micropigmentation. However, try to shave in the direction of hair growth. It will produce a grainy effect and will help absorb light. A plain scalp with no hair to absorb light may seem oilier and shinier.

SWEATING

Another reason for the oily scalp is sweating. Our scalp produces sweat in order to maintain body temperature and also to protect the skin from any harmful bacteria. If you are a regular in the gym or naturally sweat a lot, your scalp may appear shinier. Even though in a lot of cases, the sweaty scalp cannot be avoided, it can be reduced. To reduce the effect of sweat, keep a packet of wipes in your pocket. Whenever you feel like your scalp is accumulating oil, wipe your scalp with facial wipes. Or you can keep a matte powder with you along with a brush or a puff. The products you use for your scalp should be oil-free and mattifying. Avoid any oil containing sunscreen or cleanser.
